Suspect a concussion?
When your child experiences a head injury, it can be frightening. Early determination of whether or not a concussion has occurred can help produce a more efficient recovery.
Below are Recommendations for Parents/Caregivers and Schools/Sports Organizations drawn from the "Guidelines for Diagnosing and Managing Pediatric Concussion". This was released by the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation in June 2014.
It is not meant for parents to use carte blanche. It is meant to be use by the parent in conjunction with their physician. Take a copy to your physician and let them use it to guide you through the sometimes confusing and frustrating experience.
Most importantly, if you believe that you or someone you know may have a concussion, ensure the injured person sees a physician.
